| A VIEW FROM THE RANKS!! With the Senate and Congressional races past and the shift of power presumably to the Democrats it is time for us to make VERY CLEAR what the voters mandate is! We voted to return our government to it's original system of CHECKS and BALANCES. The Senate and Congress write, debate and pass laws that are administered by the President and qualified as legal by our Supreme Courts. We don't want anything remotely like the one man-one party rule we have had for the last six years. Ours is a system of input by the voters through their choices at the polls. The middle of the road is not always the best choice but a decision based on fair, intelligent and respectful compromise is. We have too many problems to allow our elected officials to be influenced by powerful lobbys representing wealthy goups and individuals. The wealthiest among us don't earn their money by competing head to head with a factory worker in Ningbo, China or Mumbai, India or Bangkok, Thailand. The working class is under siege by the rich and powerful, trite as it may sound. Wall street has fretted for decades about the cost of labor but didn't raise an eyebrow about the obscenely high compensation of top level managers even after they gutted previously strong and wealthy companies at the expense of the rank and file jobs. There are many in the MBA set that feel we should not have ANY minimum wage at all. All the while they turn a blind eye to illegal immigration because they know it puts DOWNWARD pressure on ALL wages. DO NOT stop after the ballot box; contact the people you elected and make sure your vote continues to SPEAK LOUDLY! AND REMEMBER TO ORGANIZE!!!! |
